Shannon R. Cabrera, MD

A Board Certified Ophthalmologist and fellowship trained specialist in pediatric ophthalmology and adult strabismus, Dr. Cabrera joined Eye Surgeons & Physicians in the fall of 2007. Specifically trained to treat children with eye diseases and disorders, Dr. Cabrera is available to diagnose and treat the whole range of pediatric eye problems while providing you and your child with a thorough and accurate diagnosis, as well as appropriate treatments. Dr. Cabrera also provides comprehensive ophthalmology services to adults with cataracts, glaucoma, and diabetes.

A St. Cloud native, Dr. Cabrera graduated from Tech high school and attended the University of St. Thomas where she received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Biology and Spanish. She then continued her studies at Creighton University School of Medicine. Dr. Cabrera completed her internal medicine internship and ophthalmology residency at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. She then went on to fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology at the University of Minnesota.

Dr. Cabrera is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO), Minnesota Academy of Ophthalmology (MOA), and a candidate in training with the American Academy for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus (AAPOS).

Dr. Cabrera is married with three children. She is bilingual in Spanish and enjoys cooking, gardening, and good coffee. Passionate about traveling, Dr. Cabrera has studied in such places as Mexico and England.
